NHL Introduces Enhanced Streaming Offerings

The National Hockey League announced Wednesday that it will offer enhanced live digital streaming this season, including a new NHL.TV tvOS app for the latest generation Apple TV (which debuted during the pre-season). Also new this season is Arena, a new app created by BAMTech which is designed to supplement the in-person experience at games in the venues of 12 participating NHL teams.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Leading its digital charge is the league’s NHL.TV service, offering every out-of-market game to hockey fans on various streaming platforms. The $139.96 package will be available for the first time on new generation Apple TV’s and Xbox One, as well as on Android and iOS devices, Chromecast, Roku and SonyPlaystation devices. The league also plans to stream via Twitter a live game weekly as part of a deal with the social media company announced this past summer.
