Google Buys OTT Technology Provider

Google announced that it has acquired Anvato, a platform for encoding, editing, publishing and distributing video across platforms. Anvato, which will be incorporated into Google's Cloud Platform team, supports customers such as HGTV, Bravo, Travel Channel, Oxygen, Fox Sport and CBS Local Media.
Why This Matters: Google said that Anvato will complement its efforts “to enable scalable media processing and workflows in the cloud.” The platform can insert ads, support pay-per-view, power live streams, edit videos in the cloud and provide TV Everywhere with subscription payments.
